Reminder: Have you secured your barn day?

It is generally recommended to include vaccinations, dental examinations, and sheath cleanings in your horse's schedule, at least once a year, to ensure their well-being and to be sure they are as healthy as they can be, for the approaching colder weather and the winter season.

Coordinating appointments with a group of friends or fellow boarders at your barn not only streamlines the process and can save a little cost,  but also improves efficiency for our team.

During his visit, Dr. Newton can conduct a range of services including health screenings, lameness examinations, dentistry, vaccinations, sheath cleanings, bloodwork, and Coggins (EIA) testing for your horses.

To best prepare for barn days, consider the following points:

  • Ensure there is an appropriate area in the barn for working with your horse, ideally with a back wall. Stalls, grooming or wash racks work well.

  • A nearby faucet or spigot is ideal, and access to warm water is even better.

  • A parking area nearby for easy access to supplies and equipment stored in the truck is also very helpful.

  • Having your horse caught and located in a nearby stall or the rail will help things go smoother, however please do not put your horses in a  situation where they will be anxious as a result.

If you know someone at your barn who would like their horse to be examined by Dr. Newton during his visit, please suggest that they contact us through a call or text, or guide them to our website to fill out the New Client Form and our team will reach out to contact them.

We are now scheduling group barn days into November, so please remain flexible with timing to accommodate a large group.
