Dr. Tyler Newton
Dr. Tyler Newton was born in Portland, Oregon but spent the majority of his life in Southern California. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Anthropology. After graduation he taught English in Beirut, Lebanon for one year before returning to Southern California. It was then that he developed a passion for horses and began to shadow a local farrier. This led to him attending Cowtown Horseshoeing School in Miles City, Montana and starting his own farrier business which operated for nearly 5 years. His desire to learn as much as possible about horses and horse care naturally led to veterinary school.
Dr. Newton earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis. While attending UCD, he was an active member of the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, holding positions of Co-President Elect followed by Co- President. He was also the student representative for Platinum Performance for 2 years.
Once completing his degree, Dr. Newton spent one year as an intern at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center, where he then remained on staff as an Associate Veterinarian for 3 years.
Looking for a change of pace Dr. Newton moved to Oregon to become an Associate Veterinarian at Bend Equine Medical Center.
Dr. Newton has trained and shown in the jumper circuit, along with starting many young horses. He has recently begun learning the exciting sport of sorting and team penning! Dr. Newton enjoys photography, hiking, riding, and spending time with his wife and three daughters. In his free time you can find him supporting their daughters in a wide range of activities & competitions!
